Platypus Bend Eco Retreat - Nature Discovery Experience

Platypus Bend Eco Retreat, as well as being a unique nature discovery experience in Far North Queensland, has purpose built facilities for functions and tour groups with seating capacity for up to 90 guests in our licenced cafe overlooking the pristine Johnstone River.

Our property stretches across 177 acres of beautiful rolling green hills with a 2 km river frontage and more than 40 acres of tropical rainforest inhabited by Lumholtz Tree Kangaroos, Wallabies, Pademelons, Possums, more than 150 species of birds, dragon flies and numerous butterflies including the beautiful Ulysses and Cairns Birdwing.

We also boast a 95% success rate in viewing Platypus and guests who have never seen Platypus before are delighted to find how easy it is to spot them at Platypus Bend.

We are located just over 1 hr drive or 20 min helicopter flight from the Cairns International Airport. It is a spectacular scenic trip to a pleasant altitude of 2500 feet nestling in the foothills of Mt Bartle Frere and bordering on Wooroonooran National Park in the Cairns Highlands.
